چکیده
In this study, a structural hold down component was designed and produced using the particulate injection moulding (PIM) process. The material of choice titanium due not only to properties but also desire create custom-made components for state-of-the-art marine vessel, Earthrace 2.On removal from mould, green parts were seen have an irregular surface on top face. Known as bloom, it can be during single-phase commodity polymers result changes in polymer density, shear stresses irregularities turbulent flow.Literature suggests bloom is separation between two phases, preliminary findings show little evidence within sectioned profile. sintered sectioned, inspection surfaces done metallographic techniques. use CAD models enabled defect modelled provided more likely scenario. It further confirmed that there no through part defects present although caused by two-phases, effect restricted outer parts.

Microporous Titanium through Metal Injection Moulding of Coarse Powder and Surface Modification by Plasma Oxidation
Titanium is one of the most attractive materials for biomedical applications due to having excellent biocompatibility accompanied by good corrosion resistance. One popular processing technique for Ti is Metal Injection Moulding (MIM). However, there are several issues associated with the use of this technique, such as the high cost of the fine powder used, the high level of contamination and co...
متن کاملA Model of the Injection Moulding Process
This paper is concerned with the injection moulding process, in which hot molten plastic is injected under high pressure into a thin cold mould. Assuming that the velocity and temperature profiles across the mould maintain their shape, a simple steady state model to describe the behaviour of a Newtonian fluid during the rilling stage is developed. Various phenomena of the process are examined, ...
متن کاملLattice Boltzmann Modeling of Injection Moulding Process
Polymer injection in moulds with complicated shapes is common in todays industrial problems. A challenge is to optimize the mould design which leads to the most homogeneous filling. Current commercial softwares are able to simulate the process only partially. This paper proposes a preliminary study of the capability of a two-fluid LatticeBoltzmann model to provide a simple and flexible approach...
متن کاملOptimization of Injection Moulding Process Parameters in the Moulding of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
Injection moulding is one of the most popular polymer processing methods due to its high production rate as well as its ability to produce very intricate geometries at very cheaper cost and within few seconds. There are several flaws which occur while producing plastic parts by Injection moulding, like warpage, shrinkage, flash, sink marks etc. Shrinkage is one of the most critical problems whi...
